Agreed and thanks for starting this thread, hope folks shopping for a TT take the time to read and understand.
I would venture to say that a lot of folks, myself included, have been down the path to a weigh-in wake up call and back again.
RV manufacturers want their TTs to seem as light as possible so they can be towed by the biggest assortment of vehicles, vehicle manufacturers want to make their vehicles seem like they can tow the biggest assortment of trailers, and the consumer who is used to fitting all of his tent camping gear in the trunk of his car takes it all at face value and winds up dealing with the issues.
The SAE towing spec has made tow ratings more realistic, now if only TT mfrs would do the same and post more realistic weights as Lantley suggests.
