I seem to read a lot of "ifs"
The trick is to do more with what is available... at the lowest possible cost... in fuel, pollution, and failures.
I will never use all of the horsepower available in my Duramax engine... and I will never hurt my Allison Transmission.
Speed limits are fixed... the maximum speed is the same in all but a few places that most of us will never see anyway.
Load is actually determined by failure (not the numbers on the door post)... the failure of the chassis and/or the transmission (not the engine)
If you add 300 more horse power to your engine how much faster can you drive and stay within the speed limits.
How much more load can you haul (or tow)?
We don't make the rules... if there is a standard limit on pollution... it's not our job to question it... it's our responsability to meet the standard.
No if's or but's about it.
more hP = less mpg
more weight = less mpg
more speed = less mpg
more strain = more engine failures
more strain = more transmission failures
If my efforts won't increase my mpg I won't do it. I
f my efforts are going to cost me $$$ to repair my engine or transmission I won't do it.
Somethings to think about
