It is a good read for a Sunday afternoon and for most doesn't clear up one darn thing. BenK kinda of stated the right way when he said KISS. Torque, HP, RPM does not mean anything until they are produced in some fashion. Tell me how much HP, Torque and RPM does a big hunk of Iron, Aluminum or steel produce sitting in the driveway. It is all irrelevant until you need to solve the problem of moving the load. So the only question I ever have is does it move the load that I have in the fashion that I desire and within the Capital I am willing to spend The rest is all mine is bigger than yours.
BTW I am a degreed mechanical engineer I can get into this discussion as deep as anyone but to what avail.
