1. The Tundra is 381 HP, but has 4.30 gears compared to my 3.73. I am also running 285 tires, not the stock 245's. What's the math there?
2. Yes I do. I have 344.5 at the rear wheels. Dynojet
3. I am not sure exacly what RPM he was running. We have made this trip dozens of times. Surely at one poing the max hp was found. How come no one is asking me what my rpm's were? Argument slanted towards gas?
So just because you wanted you boosted the HP on the Duramax by 25 and knocked 81 Hp off of the Toyota?
I know they aren't the same trucks, but the pulling experience should be somewhat close according to the original statement. They aren't.
So you asked a question claiming to want and answer but it appears you may already have your mind made up. In case I'm misreading your posts, I'll try some more:
1) When explaining why HP matters, there is no math needed, nor gear ratios or tires. But if you want to know anyway, lower gears allows a lower torque engine to provide increased torque at the wheels.
2) So you know what is at the Dmax's rear wheels. Do you have this same information for the Toyota?
3) There's no intent to "slant" anything. You said the Toyota was having trouble based upon its claimed HP versus the Dmax. I was trying to explain why it may not be making its advertised power. If the Dmax isn't running at max HP RPM, that just means there's an even bigger discrepancy to resolve.
Turtle was saying the Dmax is boosted (over factory) because you installed a tune. The Toyota loses some HP because it does not have a turbo. I can't speak to the actual values claimed.
I'm not sure anyone claimed 2 equal HP engines will perform the same, only that they could, given the proper gearing.
