Whaz,
I am bowled over by your sudden fortune! You seemed to have little hope that Lynn would land a full-time job in Durango when we talked last. This is great! The great avenger seems to have passed over your house without stopping.
in 1971 on a Jeep vacation in the San Juans, we stopped in Durango to look at real estate. During Jean and my lifetime together, while vacationing we always were on the lookout for a place to land, after our working days were over. It was then a sleepy little railroad town. Everything was cheap-ish and we were sheepish. (Sheep Camp did not live there yet)
It was a bustling little town, mostly tied to the narrow gage Durango and Silverton Railroad (formerly the D&RGW) tourist trade, but many locals were threatened by the influx of wealth-flashing Texans and sun-tanned Californians invading their treasured turf to escape the heat.
At least, you're not one of these.
This is a great outcome for you.
Congratulations, my friend, and especially to Lynn who seemed to be at the right place, at the right time with the right stuff; couldn't be better.
regards, as always, jefe
