- Grit_dogNavigatorBasically any half ton 4x4 that you can easily put the t case in neutral, or one of the midsize variants like the Canyon or Tacoma would be a better toad if the camper you're planning on pulling can be handled by a midsize pickup.
I don't think there's a huge difference with respect to it being a toad othe than weight. They all have 4 wheels and roll pretty well. - BriskExplorer II

I wouldn't. A new Ram, Silverado, or Ferd Diesel is the same price and has a bunch more capability for the same price. - Charlie_D_ExplorerI would look at the disappointing Titan sales before deciding in a Cummins. Extra cost for a diesel that is used for putting around instead of work it is designed for. Low resale and Nissan is having a great deal of difficulty because of sales. Weight of engine reducing an already low payload.

- Charlie_D_ExplorerBe very very careful about what you buy. The sales people often don't know and will tell you that they can be towed 4 down. Friend has a 2-3 year old Ram, was assured he could tow behind his motor home. Could not. Several attempts to modify didn't work. Seems that starting the engine and putting transmission in neutral before taking off is not a proper choice on towing.
- _40FanExplorerI was thinking a Ford 6.0. They tow pretty good when working and don't look half bad on the back of a tow truck. :)

4x4 is required to tow 4-down without other modifications.
I seem to remember the added weight only being about 400 pounds for 4x4. - BedlamModeratorI agree an Ecoboost 4wd F150 would be a good choice. They typically weigh between 4500-5500 lbs depending on how they are optioned and can be configured for sufficient payload and towing capacity to give you a variety of choices in travel trailers later.
- mboppExplorerYes, a F150 4X4 can be towed 4-down by putting the transfer case in neutral.
