^ It's one of those things that if you get stung, it hurts really bad, but if you don't, you may never know there was a "problem."
Some are more problematic than others, some (not just injection pumps) have workarounds that are economical to expensive.
Some don't care about the details and just want their truck to RUN with no additional input or effort from themselves. Some are keenly aware of issues and are ok with pre-emptively repairing or eliminating them.
And yes, some engines are more prone to be ticking time-bombs than others.
