The verdict is in! DRW vs SRW....real world

I had to go back and look at Taylors video on his AF-990 weight..Full timing as a single guy, he has over 1500# of stuff in his AF added to the 3600 dry weight..5100+ ready to camp and everything is not full..

My S&S add 100lbs to the front with the water tank full.

see how the front end is lighter loaded? and I think that is with my front rack on, that included a Honda 2000, some fuel, maybe a little weber grill, all inside a giant plastic box

2019 GMC 3500 specs..

This is from my AF 990, and my 2015 Ram dually, cummins, aisin, 4wd.
(now I own a 2018 that is same only 2wd)

This slip is with full tank of fuel and def, and wife and I in front seat, loaded for a 2 week trip. there is maybe a couple days food but we still had not stopped at our normal farm stand to pickup produce.
and all adult beverages are in trailer.

see the first 2 numbers add up to 13,980, and the truck GVWR is 14,000 lbs. Now maybe 300-400 lbs of that number is tong weight but still as shown I was 20 lbs within GVWR and without trailer tong I would be within 400 lbs.

This was also 1/2 tank of fresh water, but black would have been empty as we were on start of trip.

since than I got a device from hardware store that screws on end of hose and tells me how many gallons I am putting in holding tank. Most times I run with about 10 gallons in fresh tank.

Taylor Dzaman full times in a AF-990 and is single..He did a video on his AF-990 weight which was 5200+ loaded,just with his stuff,being single..

Full timing in an RV requires more stuff than a weekend out camping just as the weight #1Flyboy posted on his AF-865..

Some history here for atleast one that does not understand AF TC listed weights..

On the Northwood Manufacturing website, the company states the dry weight of the 2019 Arctic Fox 865 at 2,641-pounds.

To that weight you need to add the weight of the Fox Value Pack, a mandatory options package built into every Arctic Fox truck camper.

Northwood reports the total weight of the Fox Value Pack at 595 pounds. That brings the total dry weight of the base Arctic Fox 865 to 3,236-pounds.

The Fox Value Pack (mandatory options package) includes 17-items; a rear electric awning, sliding battery rack, dual 30-pound propane tanks, roof rack and ladder, Rieco-Titan electric jacks with remote (shown above), outside speakers, Joey sliding storage tray, HDTV/WIFI antenna, diamond plate knee wall armor, 2-way 7-cubic foot refrigerator, deluxe stainless-look refrigerator door panels, 22-inch microwave, multi-speed reversible fan vent, hardwood hamper doors, below dinette access door and drawer, and front bedroom shelf and bedspread.

On the manufacturer’s invoice, the unit under review had five options; thermal-pane windows, Fox Landing bumper step, 11,000 BTU air conditioner, WI-FI extender, and the above described Fox Value Package.

Arctic Fox 865: dry weight, 3,411 pounds + 28 gallons fresh, 233.5 pounds + 6 gallon full hot water heater, 50 pounds + 2x 30-pound full propane tanks, 54 pounds + 2 batteries, 130 pounds + stuff, 500 pounds = 4,378.5 pounds

Now for a 2019 GMC 3500 DRW..

You can see the payload difference between the 6.0 gas(5761#) and the payload of the 6.6 diesel (4930#)

So let's do the math..

4930 payload(empty weight) minus TC weight with normal gear(4378#) equals 552# to work with to reach the max GVWR..

2 people-350# with kids and pets will reach the max GVWR easy but that does not include full timing options needed like gen set/gas/extra water(only 28 gal water tank)/sat system/guns/ammo/tools/chains etc etc..

Makes it very easy to be over GVWR with the AF 865 full timing.

Since he is a full timer in his 865 and the 865 has tons of storage,it is quite possible but your right..Way off topic..

So, I guess you should stop trying ... I know it’s hard to admit the math, but let’s say the AF is 4400 dry ... not that you consider TCM to be a valid source if they don’t own one. :) That poster still has to add 2000 lbs to be 1500 over his GVWR with the numbers you found which are 1000 less than I found at the link I provided.
