I used the one inch clip as it seemed a good compromise .
I center punched the INSIDE of the clip (where the paper would be) and drilled a clearance hole for the machine screw. For spring steel it was surprisingly easy.
My fan is slightly tilted out at the top as it seemed to me that would give a better direction to the air flow to circulate the cold air in the box, but that's JMHO.
