Thx djsamuel - the ultra-light aluminum/fiberglass trailers are the ones we've been primarily looking at, but now we're concerned that even they'd be too much for our little 4 Runner.
westend & epusher - we'll go weight the truck tomorrow. It's already packed for travel so we'll just need to add us, the tongue weight of a loaded trailer and the weight of the weight distributing hitch.
So we're beginning to understand there are two separate variables here ... the towing capacity of the truck (i.e. the Tow Rating of somewhere between 5,000 - 6,400 lbs) has nothing to do with the payload info - which will tell us if the 4 Runner can actually tow the trailer?
Looking forward to weighing the truck & seeing what the result might be ... there's a Pilot with a CAT scale about 15 minutes from us.
Cheers! Keeping our fingers crossed! Jan & David
P.S. HAPPY Thanksgiving everyone!
