Thinking about ordering a new truck tomorrow

Don't know anything about the truck. But, truck friends don't let truck friends tow with gassers. Bet you'll be willing to pay the price after a year or so of towing with yer foot through the floor with that new gasser. Course the gas engine noise screaming at 5000 RPM's will keep yer DW from asking to stop to pee quite as often.:B Course with a gasser you'll be stopping more often anyway.

Not the same but I'll throw in my measly .02.

I went back to the 6.2L two years ago when we sold the Cyclone 5er. No sense in keeping the F450 so I sold them both and since we were without a camper for awhile, I went back to gas because it is less of a hassle as a daily driver plus it does well pulling my landscape equipment.

But sure enough, we bought a Work & Play TT last year. The 6.2L has done the job but as Crickeydog mentioned, I got to where I couldn't stand the screaming of that thing pulling hills, etc..

Mine has the 3.73 so we're not comparing perfect apples to apples, I know. But our Work & Play isn't as heavy as most 5ers either.

I'm keeping the 6.2L for my business but this past Wednesday, picked up a 2015 F350 6.7L SRW.

One note to add. We take many trips throughout the year because I race ATVs and we do a church ministry there. So we do 14-16 trips per year at an average 500 miles round trip each time. If we only did a couple of trips per year, it wouldn't be too bad. But we RV a lot. Not to mention, I couldn't imagine using that set-up if we ever head back down to Disneyworld.

Between my business and my racing, I just felt I was killing that truck fast.

9000 lbs? It will do the job. But if you do it a lot or make really long trips, you may wish you had stayed with the diesel.

But at the same time, there are guys on this forum with gassers pulling big campers and they are completely happy.

I prefer to set the cruise and forget it. Not keep an eye out for inclines so I can get a running start. Climbing those hills at 55mph in 3rd gear gets old.

Have seen several threads in this forum about folks towing TT's with an F250/350 with the 6.2. They seemed to like it. Between the cost, and ever increasing complexity of the diesel, particularly the emissions systems, I can certainly understand your thinking.

Not a Ford owner, but I am completely happy with my gassers towing performance and agree about the new diesels. Same reason I did the switch after owning two Cummins powered Rams.

I have the 6.2 with 4.30's for work. I usually tow about 11-12k with it. I get around 7-8 mpg's depending on how I drive. You can tell you're pulling it, but it's not bad. I've pulled with both and they're both good.

No comments on the 6.2. I had a V10 Dually in the XL package.

I will NEVER own another vinyl floor/seat truck for RV (meaning Thousands and Thousands of miles in the seat) pulling... My floors got really hot under foot...(okay, I do drive barefoot on long trips...just the way I am) and my DW despised the "very uncomfortable seats"

Not trying to be mean... Just sharing my .02 worth of experience.

Our next truck for family RV hauling will have Carpet and cloth minimal..

BUT... I have a friend with a 2012 XL F250 just like you are describing and he loves it... Just wanted to put it out there that the XL minimalist package sounded wonderful to me until about mile 150 of our first long trip.

Just a note on ordering. Mine was ordered end of October, built early December, put on a train and vanished. Even Ford didn't know where it was. Finally showed up in Seattle mid January. It is actually kind of surprising that FedEx and UPS can tell up you exactly where your $10 package is but Ford has no way of tracking your $$$$$ truck
