Thinking about ordering a new truck tomorrow

Update, Ford will not give me a final price on a 2016 if I order it. They have a 2015 that is available from another dealer but they will not deal any on the price. I have bought 4 new trucks from this dealer in the past. They even told me that they only make about $1000 on the sale of any super duty. BS is my thoughts. So I went across town to the Chevy dealer and they have a 2015 3500HD 6.0 DRW CC LB 4x4 with all the stuff I wanted plus a few extras. They priced it for 4K less than the ford and are even willing to through in a spray in Rhino liner. I think I might go this route. One thing for sure is I will never deal with my local Ford dealer again.

What's Ford smokin? Maybe 15k in FL. Translates to about 9k uphill at altitude, maybe, unless you don't mix being like the guy towing the 85 5ver who hated it but didn't know it yet. Lol.
4:30s will make a difference over 3:73s for sure, but they're not like a magic nitrous button!

Lol! Put your readers back on. Told there OP I thought it would handle the towing but not in the mtns. Seemed helpful to give my opinion........ How did your post help him?
If I put every vehicle I own or drive in my sig it would be annoying and look like I was bragging or something.
But FYI, I have a new 6.2 company rig I'm getting ready to step into and head home from work and had a '13 6.2 prior to that. Aaaaand have been around dozens of them used for work.
Prolly doesn't qualify me since it's not in my sig though....

They have many 2016 models on the lot. They have found one that has everything I want but its the wrong color. It is silver instead of grey. I know its no biggie but we will see.

One instance where the 3.73's are better (aside from potentially better mileage) is maintaining 60-65MPH highway speed. The 3.73's will be able to use 2nd gear (yes, it's noisy) but will be right at peak power, 385HP, ~5400RPM.

With 4.30's, it can only downshift to 3rd and 300HP until your speed sags back to about 55MPH where it can then downshift to 2nd and tap into the full 385HP.

I have found that when towing 9000lbs, the steepest hills on main highways around here require more than 300HP but less than 385, so I can always maintain speed. Another gear between 3rd and 2nd would be nice; it jumps from 260HP to 385HP in one step.

The low 1st gear launches well, even with 3.73's but 4.30's would do it better.

If you tow heavier or in the mountains or on steeper grades, the 4.30's are the way to go but don't disregard 3.73's.

The 6.2with 4.30 gears shoul be a great set up. I see no reason that u can't pull over over this country with 9k pounds. One of our newest camping acquaintances has one similar to what ur looking for. It's a base model, white, 6.2,4:30 gear set and 4x4. I don't know how much he pulls, cause his camper is larger then mine and mines around 10k loaded, but he has not complained about it. I am like u in the regard of pulling with both gas and diesel, and chose gas because it's simple and cheaper to fix. Nothing wrong with 4 k in the hills. I have the GM 6.0 and really like it. I have no issues pulling my setup anywhere, if I want more power I just drop the gear. No issues, and it ain't screaming like some say. It's all about perception, get what u want it's ur money....

Staying out of the mtns, the 6.2 will pull er alright.

Regarding the expense of diesel repairs...... After 3 different versions of Fords biggest mistakes when it comes to pickup trucks, maybe a more reliable diesel would help, like a Cummins or Dmax.
