CA has written it into law, as of 2035 it will be illegal to purchase a new gasoline car..
Other states:
Among them, Washington, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon and Vermont are expected to adopt California's ban on new gasoline-fueled vehicles. Colorado and Pennsylvania are among the states that probably won't.
This is MY issue... don't all out BAN... This is the USA, allow us to choose our ride.... There are plenty pieces of the pie for all of us to have what we want..
I MAY own a Tesla one day, my buddy has one and it is bad ass, BUT not for my tow vehicle.
That's 15 years away. You can still buy anything you want and the law can still go through changes by future administrations.
Just to be clear: the law says "emission-free" and doesn't specify electric.
The rule, issued by the California Air Resources Board, will require that all new cars sold in the state by 2035 be free of greenhouse gas emissions like carbon dioxide. The rule also sets interim targets, requiring that 35 percent of new passenger vehicles sold by 2026 produce zero emissions. That requirement climbs to 68 percent by 2030.
Transportation is the nation’s top source of planet-warming greenhouse-gas emissions.
