This is what happens when you have too much tongue weight...

You should never, ever weld on a truck frame. The only exception is to extend the frame towards the back as is done on some motorhomes but you better have a welder who is certified by the AWS for that particular procedure. The heat from welding will affect the temper and strength of the frame.
