Slight change. Maybe You should never, ever weld on a truck frame. I have cut a 350, a 250 and several class 8 trucks in 2 replaced or added sections with no issues. I have also had to plate a few factory frames on class 8 GMCs when the owners tried to do the same work as I was with my spliced 9000 Fords. (GVW 67,000. GCVW 110,000)
To me sort of a moot point. No matter how skilled a welder why void your warranty? A skilled welder could also fabricate some camper tie down brackets that bolt to the frame. Given that this guy seems to have had 2 trucks taco on him I feel like these welded connections are likely the reason or at least a strong contributing factor for these similar failures.
