Hi Silver (or is it HI, HO Silver?!?:W)Sorry, just couldn't resist!
We have a new EC 1160 that has those same hatches on our dinning room slide. I have notice when it rains, that water will come in thru the two hatches and the carpet under our dinette will get wet. There are two large bolts inside the two hatches that show rust on them. Our camper is just over a year old. I noticed this was happening in the Spring and tried to resolve the problem by trying a larger door gasket. It was to no avail. I could hardly close the door with the new larger gasket. I replaced the gasket again with a new smaller one and made sure that the TC is as level as I can get it so the water will drain off the side more efficiently. Water still comes into and around the radius of the door, but seems to have not intruded into either of the compartment. I am keeping and eye on it and my fingers crossed. Lousy design of the doors. I was thinking if it continues,I'll just seal the doors shut and not use the external storage under the dinette at all. The propane compartment doors are another issue because you need to use that compartment no matter what. I like Sue's idea of the water divert-er. I think I'll put some more thought into that. Good luck and keep us posted
