Hi folks,
Would appreciate your thoughts on the 2025 - 27 Starcraft 173md. I like the layout (especially walkaround queen bed) and considering a lightweight budget trailer for a few times a year. How would you compare it to other trailers in the same (lightweight, budget) class?
Also open to similar trailers with a similar layout.

the carring capacity is what it is with smaller budgit rv's 500lbs of gear and food isn't bad, olus you will have the back of your truck to carry things.
what I am not to keen on is the 12V compressor fridge. this is going to be hard to stay away from with out some serious looking. why don't I like them, well they are still relitively new to the mass camper market and have a higher failure rate then adsorbtion fridges which if taken car of can easily last 25+ years. I have one in my driveway that works perfect and is 35 years old. but that failure rate will get better once they figure out what parts they have to build better and keep the unit price cheep at the same time.
the biggest reason I don't like them will depend on how you camp. if you camp with out hookups (dry camping or boondocking) then you will need a much larger battery bank and a way to charge that battery bank as your average 12V compressor fridge will consume between 80 and 100AH of power a day depending on temprature. now as for charging you could have a generator, but more places evey year are putting time restrictions and bans on them so it is a gamble, plus you would have to carry enough extra fuel for the generator also. but if your boon docking I don't think it matters when you run it or for how long the way people talk. or you can go solar which I would recomend no matter what type of fridge you have, the only thing that changes is how much solar and that depends on a few things
Insufficient cargo carrying capacity at 760 pounds. Add thirty gallons of fresh water at 250 pounds and it’s down to 510. Stuff weights a bunch.
