If the rig you have is all you will be pulling with it, then you have a great choice. I am not putting down the truck...let me explain. If you ever want to trade campers up to a 5th wheel, then you might want to consider a 3500 due to the payload runs out quickly on the 250/2500s. In the truck you are looking at, it has the rear gears I would want, however look at the option list on the truck(should be on the inside of glovebox) and look for the code G80. This is the factory rear locking differential. Very handy in trucks that pull campers. Look at the coolant. Is it the color it is supposed to be. Also pay attention to the coolant reservoir and make sure it has no turned that nasty dark color. Both indicative of a truck that has been ran hot. I too, do not think that is high mileage for that year model truck. Sounds like a great tow vehicle. Good luck.
Yep it has the G80 RPO code (positrac locking diff). Tranny cooler etc... all the things you would want for towing, except the integrated brake controller, but I've for a prodigy P2/
I have no plans to go 5th wheel in the future. We are very happy with the length and layout of our trailer (24'), plus I want to keep my truck bed for bikes etc... The only thing I could see us upgrading in the future is to another TT with slides and maybe another foot or two. I like the length we have that we can get in and out of smaller campsites. So I think the payload of this truck gives us lots of room to grow (and with 3 kids we will!)
