Heck, had a friend who's father used household furniture and bolted it into the interior of a 1980's van. Loved having the sofa to sit in. Sure it wouldn't pass seatbelt standards and such but it was cool and I didn't know any better back then (the 90's). Swapping interior stuff isn't too bad at all.
Now a word of advise. If possible, know where the van came from. If you're getting a 6.0 Ford, I'm sure you've read up on the common issues on those vehicles. I also want you to be aware that if the vehicle idled a lot, it probably had some serious fuel dilution issues if the regular maintenance interval was followed. In our paratransit vehicles, we're suffering from rollers on the lifter coming out square versus round like they should. We started changing the oil twice as often (every 3k or so miles) to help with the fuel dilution issues we're seeing. And again, we're seeing these problems with around 5% fuel dilution. So even though it's in-spec per Ford and Navistar, it is doing a real number on our engines. Buyer beware.
