Meh, Airstreams...you can keep em. They feel very cramped and sterile inside to me and my family and we are not large or filthy people. I just don't care for them mainly because of the small space.
But throw away on the rest? Nah. Like everyone else is saying, depends on the owner and what maintenance is regularly done. When it comes to the inside of TTs, Airstream or other, if it is not taken care of, it WILL be trashed.
But yes, definitely seems Airstream owner forums come off as elitists.
X2 on this!
They are cramped, sterile and lack storage space.
I fully expect my Lance to last 20+ years as it's built in a unique way - with Azdel (a composite material) instead of Luaun (wood) with block form insulation. Even if my trailer were ever to develop a leak, it's highly unlikely that anything bad would ever arise.
Azdel doesn't absorb water. It's mold, mildew and algae proof and since Lance pinch rolls (as opposed to vacuum bonding) the walls, probably will never suffer any delamination issues.
IF it ever did bubble or show any kind of surface trouble, it would be purely cosmetic due to the Azdel & block form insulation!
To me, my trailer is like a warm, inviting Airstream, that has a ton of storage and isn't sterile looking!
