Tie downs?
Can someone explain why I see some trucks with tie downs mounted directly to the frame and others to the bumper and behind the cab? I'm not sure if it is just preference or the what kind of camper/ t...

Torklift mount to the frame under the bed.
Happijack mount to the bumper and behind the cab. The attachment points behind the cab are bolted thru the bed to a bar which is bolted to the frame.
They are 2 different companies with 2 different approaches. I used Happijacks with a 4,000 pound 11' camper for 3 years and had no problems.
Lance used to recommend Happijack for their campers but I think they quit doing that.
It's basically just personal preference.
