I went with TL's in 06 on my Chevy over HJ because I did not want to drill 16 holes in my truck. Also at that time HJ's were bending the bumpers on some models.
TL's are easy to install and I have not removed mine since I installed them. They do rust but I have not seen any structure fail, I do check them when I get the oil changed.
I did have some parts sprayed with bed liner, those parts don't have any rust.
As far as ruff roads and I have been on some I have not had any problems, yet.
Some have complained that they can't open the fuel door. I have not had that problem. There is a little give in the mounting position so they won't interfere with fueling.
