You will love the Ford IBC, but with the 3.31, you will give up some GCVWR. It may work for the TT you have, but may come up short with the next one, if you keep your TVs for a long time.

I have no experience with the Ram, but I'd be giving it a closer look, if making a choice between the two, for about the same money.

I don't know that you will notice that big of a difference between the two, especially with the transmissions in trucks these days. I would probably go with the more toys truck.

You can always ask them if you can do a test tow and get a feel for them. They will probably say no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Way too many improvements to all the models since '07. I don't know about the longevity of the Ford 5.0, but it's been around quite a while now with no major complaints that I'm aware of. I think the Ram with the 8 speed transmission is probably a better deal though.

The only problem with the '07 is that even if it has been well maintained, it is still full of 10 year old parts. The flip side is put the payment towards a truck fund and you can cover most any repair and still be money ahead pretty quickly.

I would still probably look as new as possible (and still keep momma happy)if you plan on keeping it a long time.

theres a nice 2013 xlt im partial towards out of the used ones. anyone know the life expectancy out of a well maintained 5.0 in the f150. im getting mixed messages researching

I think you'll be better off with the 6 speed autos in the newer trucks. The 6R80 is a pretty capable and reliable transmission.
