So here's my question: It's that time of day when you want a place to spend the night. (Or do you start looking before then?) How do you go about finding a suitable boondocking site? Other than apparent war zones, what places do you avoid? What do you consider ideal? Have you ever been asked to move? If you are open to all options, how do you choose between established sites (campgrounds and RV parks) and boondocking? What other tips can you offer?
Our first choice is always boondocking - ideally turn off pavement onto a dirt road and then turn again onto a smaller dirt road.
google and apps are good for pointing you in the right direction, but after a while you just develop a 'nose' for it.
Only thing I avoid is tribal lands (without specific permission). Otherwise, always find it easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission - it's often hard to find who you need to ask permission from, but self evident who you need to ask forgiveness from. :)
