Tips to install leveling jacks

Hope there is a tip out there beside a punch or a starter hole with a small bitt.

Need to get about 6 holes started for the two front jacks, decided to position the jacks by cranking them once the exact position is decided on. Any tips beside the above mention to get these holes started

Frame on our tt isn't heavy about the same as a boat trailer. Or a pop up frame,
New Salem ultra cheap
  • It's angle not tubular, was hoping to use the jack it self to hold its self in place mark it then
Start the hole, may give the self starting screws a try.
  • I try to use a punch and pilot hole as you described. I don't know the thickness of material, but it should be real easy to drill.
Can you get to the top side of the lower frame rail for a nut, or is it a rectangular tube so you need to use screws?
  • Couple pieces of 2" angle sandwich the fame between the jack and the angle like a clamp no frame drilling
  • If your frame is the same mild steel as mine, self drilling hex cap screws are all you need. Hold / clamp the jack in place, and shoot some screws through the holes with an electric drill. Set the torque clutch kinda low and torque the screws by hand when you're done.
  • Use a couple pairs of vise grip pliers to hold the jacks in place. Then drill your holes.
