Oh man, how I love tire threads. Someone needs to start one every couple of weeks just to stir things up. Amazing how many people can get their panties in a wad over something that has no affect on their lives. Makes me very thankful for my calm little corner of the world.
One thing about tire threads is that it's the discussion itself that becomes pointless. The subject, and the technical merits of various tire types is a good one. The potential to share knowledge and the limited amount of useful data that we have to consider is is good. The trouble is these threads always, and I mean always, comes down to folks simply being closed minded about the whole subject, and then it becomes the predicable verbal battle where folks go to great lengths to defend their brand of choice.
At that point, the whole discussion goes so far off the rails there is little point in continuing it.
What I do when trying to get good info about these sorts of things is go to as many forums as I can to try to get as many points of view as possible. There are lots of forums related to trailers ( this one, many other brand specific camper forums, boat, horse, etc, etc. ) and once a person looks at many of them, certain patterns emerge.
To each their own, it's each persons money and choice.
