in a 14 inch size the highest weight rating is the Kumho 857 205R 14
That is 2271 # load rating
It is also an LT tire and it has a 106 mph rating .
There is no higher weight rated 14 inch tire .

There are plenty of euro sized commercial van tires made in load range D… the difference between them is Kumho is the only one that has enough guts to offer them for trailer use… at least in the USA…

As regards maxxis the , cheerleaders have chosen to ignore the facts .
Consumer Reports Passenger Tire tests reveal that no maxxis has scored above the Lowest 25 % of their ratings .

Just a silly statement…
Please supply any verifiable facts that anyone has missed, and please explain how the test of P rated tire has any bearing on the quality of a LT tire or a ST tire… or for that matter how a test of a LT or ST tire would have any bearing on a P rated tire…

Maxxis tires have been reported 19 times on this forum for failures .

Same question to you… how about some links to these failures or information about them… I am not saying they do not exist but my search didn’t produce them…

Considering that Goodyear and Carlisle ship OEM and have had the longest running widest distribution network for ST tires , that means that only a percentage of ST tires in use are Maxxis .
>
Only a percentage of the market belongs to any brand, and most tire mfg.’s. build and ship both OEM and replacement tires with no guarantee that both OEM or replacements tires are of equal quality… it’s the auto industry not the trailer industry setting the OEM standard for tires they purchase…

The Maxxis tires have had at least the same failure rate as the leading brands .

You as I have absolutely no idea what the failure rate is of any brand or type of tire sold… you only make very broad assumptions and state them as a fact… totally unsupported by anything…
>
The real solution to tire failures is to upgrade to a higher weight rating in pounds as shown on the sidewall of every tire .

Generic information that is basically true if you don’t want to take the time to learn about the tries you want… just because a little of something is good wouldn’t mean a lot of it is better…
I guess if beating your trailer to early death by an overly harsh ride a lot more is a great idea…

The brand is not as significant unless you pay for the best brands which are repeatedly Michelin , Continental , Bridegstone etc.

And which of these three brands build the best trailer tire… which of these brands list tires for small and light duty trailers on their web sites, or brochures, or catalogs…

14 inch ? Easy . Kumho 857 in the 2271 # weight rating , load range D , LT , and 106 mph rating .

There are no easy answers even with the Kumho, there are literally dozens of serious complaints about them if you want to find them… just as there are a lot of satisfied users…
