There are no easy answers even with the Kumho, there are literally dozens of serious complaints about them if you want to find them… just as there are a lot of satisfied users…

Kumho China mfg. problems...

Now, THAT is what I'm talkin' about!
Yes, but in one of those threads about Kumho failures, the user stated that the tire dealer inspected the blown tire and deemed it had run over something that caused the failure.
This is the trouble with anecdotal reports about tire quality and failures, we don't know the cause of the failure and everyone that hasn't had a catastrophic failure rates their brand as the best.
IMO, tire longevity has more to do with proper maintenance, loading, alignment, and avoiding road debris.
I agree with most of what you say, but I have been pulling small trailers my whole life TT’s, cargo, utility, boat, and equipment trailers and have never had a catastrophic failure and like to believe I played a major role it that…
However I have studied and read hundreds of documents about the ST shortcomings, and they I believe are real, including the Dot certification and testing procedures… still and because of the research I have done, to include calling and writing some of the mfg.’s do believe the Maxxis M8008 is in 225x75x15 the size I use (the size I inquired about) is the best (or was at the time I purchased them) the best ST tire available… that isn’t a recommendation, it is my observation, and I would feel very comfortable to recommend them to my own friends… all while having recognized and personally reported on the Maxxis supply problem…
I am glad to hear other mfg.’s are finally building using better processes now and hope it continues… my only problem is it has been known almost since the advent of the radial tire and by every tire mfg. how important a cap ply can be for any radial tire, but they still didn’t incorporate them until recently…
It is my hope since almost all ST tires are now made in a countries of questionable quality like China and Viet Nam (again my opinion based on my own research) that to compete quality has to improve since cost shouldn’t be a big factor any more…
