I would try a new battery before buying the repeater. I bought 10 of the batteries off Amazon for $7.55 with free shipping.
I would think if the receiver is up on the windshield, it should work with that length trailer. As mentioned, I have a 35ft TT and have no problems. Mines on the dash in that recess where the clock is. It just sits there on the provided base
