The tires and the truck have 16,000 miles on them. That soft feel also can happen when it's loaded down with firewood or rocks. It's the tires they are set up for a cushy ride and they do a great job at that.
If the TPMS is only looking for a min pressure than it should not be an issue with switching to a heavy duty tire.
