We went to Yellowstone and Colorado with 5 year old Carlisle RH tires and had no issues. I was contemplating it but decided to wait. I had no problems. I just replaced them this year with a set of Carlisle HD`s.
I think you`ll be ok and would do the trip if the tires are ok like you said.
