Tire Valve Stem Extenders

I have a dual wheel truck and will be putting extenders on the tire valve stems. I can't check the air or add air to the inside rear wheels now unless I remove the outside wheels.
Even the outside wheels are difficult to work on. Do most of you use the extenders? Do you use metal or rubber stems? My valve stems are metal currently. Any advice?

    What is needed is a extended valve stem that will let you quickly check your tire pressure. Extenders have a very bad habit of leaking.
