If you buy from tire rack, some "local" shops partner with them. You can have the tires drop shipped there, and also the dealer will not charge extra for mount/bal. There are some shops that charge an extra $10 or $15 or so for "tires not purchased from us".
Sometimes buying local I have been unable to get a specific tire I want.
My most recent tires I bought was a set of GoodYear Wrangler LT's for one of my horse trailers. My local GY shop was actually a few bucks less expensive overall vs getting them from tire rack
