What size tire?

On the corporate website of Towmax, they manufacture a lot of off brand tires, one of which was a "Chinese" brand that I replaced within a few months of owning the trailer.

If you have a 14" tire, I would recommend the Kuhmo Radial 857. It has a 2271 lb/99 mph speed rating. When we went to Colorado this past summer, I could tell a significant difference in the ride of the trailer.

I have had great luck with GY Marathons on 2 different TT's and plenty of miles.

If you can get a LRD, and yes balance them.

I had good luck with Goodyear Marathons 20 years ago, but haven't run any lately. Had good luck with Maxxis and currently have put 3,000 miles or so on a set of Towmax STR. So far so good.

I run 225 75 15 E's.

I also have had 2 sets of the Goodyear Marathon's and got 5 years out of each set with no problems. I don't have them currently as we just bought a new camper back early this year but I would have no problem with going back to them. Yes by all means have them balanced. Now I keep mine covered at all times when camping and the rest of the time it's in a completely enclosed storage unit so the tires are not out in the weather and sun.

Only tire I ever exploded was a Good Year Marathon. Never again. Maxxis is the way to go.. Yes a tire rated to the original is fine, and yes balance them

I've been very happy with my Marathons. First set was load range B and 10 years old. Current set is load range C and good so far. The increase in tire pressure maximum from 35 psi (range B Max) to 50 psi (range C Max) seems to have made the biggest and best difference.

Like the OP I am looking for new tires. My problem is, I have 4 load range C tires rated at 1820# per tire or 7200# per four. My TT has a gross weight max of 7700 # so I guess the factory assumes at least 500# on the tongue. :h Fortunately I do not come close to the max load.

My plan was to switch to load range D but I have not yet found an ST 205 75 R 15 in that load range. According to the internet they are out their but I have not found a local source.

Since the objective is to pick the best third world country you wish to have build your tires; I plan on dealing with my local tire guy and getting the full replacement guarantee.

If you look up “Tire Safety with Roger Marble” on the web you can get a good overview of tire types and functions including blowouts.

I don't know if anyone on this forum that has ever checked the balance of their brake drums/hubs. You will find that most are extremely out of balance and after correcting the tire balance a problem still remains. I balance the entire assembly on my trailers.

I have had my tires balanced in the past and now run centramatics, and both provided an noticeable improvement but the centramatics are better.

Since I don't ride in the TT it's subjective, but the interior seems less effected with the centramatics.

If you have at least 6" wide rims, up-grade to 225 and load range E.
I've had good luck with them.
