The trailer manufacturers provide over a million tires a year. If they used junk tires, you would see hundreds of TTs on the side of the road with shredded tires. How many have you seen?
Thank you. I have asked this question in the "China bomb" threads numerous times only to either get ignored or promptly beat up.
People will spend good money replacing the tires on a brand new rig out of the fear that a handful of threads have created. Why would you replace perfectly good tires without documented evidence (as opposed to message board anecdotes). Yes, there are some documented case of Chinese made tires failing. Yet, if they were all bad, where are the recalls? How come no one is reporting it to the NHTSA? Which makes a lot of us question how much of an issue this really is. All tires can and do fail is not properly cared for.
This is no different that the myth that single axle trailer are bad to tow. I towed one for 10 years, cross country once and a trip to Yellowstone. Never a problem.
Same with the myth that 13 in wheels are bad. See above comment.
My current trailer is going into it's 3rd season with the aforementioned "China bombs". I have no intention of replacing them for another 2-3 seasons.
