To Cover for the Winter or Not?

This is our first year owning a 22' ultralight TT and I live in New England. Should I cover the TT or just leave it exposed? I would anticipate a full range of New England winter weather - snow, an occasional Blizzard, freezing rain, etc.

I'm having a hard time coming to a reasonable conclusion on this. None of the dozens of RVs and TTs at the dealer get covered, but then again they have trained professionals on payroll who can get everything up snuff if anything goes wrong.

  • Covering keeps snow and ice from direct contact with the roof. It can make snow removal easier.

But thousands on TTs sit on the dealer's lots without any difficulties.

We use ours when it is going to sit for several months but we almost always take a winter break. So it does not get used often.

    It's like chicken soup,it can't hurt.

    Be safe.
  • Carolina Carport... its covered for about 310 days a year. Keeping rain and snow off the roof as much as possible should go a long ways towards longevity for a camper.
  • Cover it. No, the RV dealers don't put covers on their inventory.

Car dealers don't keep their invemtory in a garage. But, many people buy a car, take it home and keep it in a garage.

A garage or carport is best, a cover is better than nothing.
    New England winters, nuff said.
  • Our experience....Northwest winters

    Uncovered: not great
    Canvas cover: better
Inside dry storage: by far the best
  • Like jfk I cover mine but I’m in SoCal. I want my TT to stay looking like it did at the dealer’s.
  • You'll hear folks adamantly argue both ways. Personally, I cover mine. The TT and the cover are both now 6 years old. The cover has one scuffed area where I didn't pad properly, but I fixed it using a patch kit. The TT looks as good as the day I bought it.
