If you do 'delete' anything to do with the Emissions system, you are subject to a maximum fine of $25,000 a day. . . While they never 'could' impose that large of a fine, they 'can'.
Edge Products had to pay a million dollar fine for causing the 1990's to 2005 diesel trucks to produce more soot than the factory designed truck would have produced. Also they have to pay for $100 rebates for people who want to upgrade from a fireplace to pellet type stove, as a way to lower the particulates in the air, and 'clean up some smog!' so to speak. So by Edge Products paying consumers who upgrade to a cleaner burning pellet stove, they are reducing smog, something that their prior products helped increase in violation of EPA Regulations. The EPA did not impose the 'maximum penalty' of millions and millions of dollars, because it would have bankrupt the company and put everyone out of work.
Anyway worse that deleting the smog controls is going to a site like this and telling 'everyone' reading about it that you are violating the law, and where is my fine?
My car came with plenty of performance! It is one of the safest SUV's around, the Ford Edge. I bought a Edge Performance Programmer for my van, because it did not have a factory tach, and I wanted to know the RPM's, and also the transmission temps. The Edge Performance Programmer ETC will tell all that and more. In addition, I can limit top speed when my daughter is driving the car to something like 65 MPH if I want to program that into the controls. I could also program in 'economy drive profile' where it will make less HP than the factory provides, so she can not drive like I sometimes like to. . . .
Personally I would not delete anything. Also I would not install a loud exhaust system, and my car and motorhome came with plenty of power. No need for more.
Good luck,
Fred.
