RVman3252, the DPFs are on these trucks for health reasons, not environmental reasons. It is the EGR and SCR/DEF systems that are for the environment.
What?!?! Thats the most foolish thing I have heard. The purpose of the Diesel particulate filter is to reduce emissions, as is the EGR. The DEF is intended to make regens cooler and healthier.
As for the OP, why did the dealer recommend it? I've done many of deletes on Chevys ranging from contractors with 200k not interested in spending mega bucks on new emissions equipment, to friends with brand new trucks looking to have fun. If the truck is stock and giving no issues, I wouldn't hesitate to leave it alone. When the OE stops paying to fix the emissions system, or fails to fix it, or has the truck tied up to frequently..... Thats when you need to decide if deleting is worth chancing the warranty.
Mechanically, for the truck there is absolutely no downside to deleting if the power increase over stock is marginal or zero.
