Although the EGR is a maintenance item and should be cleaned out about 100,000 miles or so. Depending on if you do this yourself or higher a technician to do it is will cost you about from $100-$300 or so. Some may complain about this, but it is all a part of owning a diesel just like the $120 I have to pay to replace two fuel filters every 15,000 miles. If I had an issue with it then I would have got a gasser instead.
