Sounds like your alarm may be faulty or in the wrong place. Otherwise, you should be able to use you fantastic fan or exhaust for the times you have significant smoke/steam rising.

I use my microwave, but the toast gets harder than some people like it. More like a crouton. When I was growing up, my mom cooked toast over the flames of the stove.

My Wife butters both sides and fries it in a skillet until golden brown. It's actually pretty good and doesn't take long.

Same here but we find it taste better just putting it in the not stick pan without anything, just the bread. We rotate it flat 180*, flip it, then rotate again 180*. How long in each orientation depends on how high the flame is and how golden you like.

If we do anyone of these to make toast, my alarm will go off in the RV! I make it under the broiler in the oven and occasionally frying it as stated here by someone else. Even using the oven method, we run a portable fan, aimed at the alarm, to prevent it from going off. The alarms are super sensitive, too sensitive when cooking, which is why I originally purchased a toaster, plugged it in to test it, and discovered that with just the heat it generated, the alarm went off. Never mind adding bread to the equation. Back it went to the store.

Between the alarms, grease and god forbid you even think of using a hot oven in an RV while in Florida!

EVERYTHING gets cooked on this placed on either a small folding table or picnic table 'outside' the RV.


OR if you want to be even more of a minimalist this!


Cook outside the RV. AND.....
Both take up almost ZIP ZERO space when it's time to store them in the storage bays of an RV. :C

Camp toast, butter cast iron pan brown toast. also makes a great way to make garlic toast.
