Toll question

Any one from NY state know the cost of toll on the George Washington bridge and the Throgs Neck for a 3500 dually with COMMERCIAL plates using EZ Pass or cash. Thanks Dave

  • Tiggs Usually go west from Long Island NY so the best way in the throggs neck bridge off the island and then the dreaded Cross Bronx Expy and then the GWB. I really have given up weekends or short trip like in the old days now I leave for a 2 to 3 month stint usually out west. I just can't believe the tolls ... I guess I just live or think from another time...hehehe
  • I'm raising a point, and appologise for not answering you question.

Does it really make any difference if it is a one time trip... the straighest point between 2 points is the straightest line possible.

To veer only 6 miles off your route to your destination and to return another 6 miles back to your original straight line route is a gallon or more of fuel... and lost time. It adds up quickly.

Somebody pays everytime you go somewhere on a super highway, city street, or across a wide body of water... taxes, or fees (probably both)... nothing is free.

The 12 mile long bridge from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island is $45 one way... free the other. Or you can take a ferry... loss of a lot of time and more expensive.

Of course we had a choice... but we wanted to visit Clive and Marne on Prience Edward Island... guess we could have swam.... well floated over.

Dig deep, have a good time, you'll forget the cost.

BTW... would someone really buy a new truck with less capiblilty to get a couple of bucks off a bridge toll?
  • Are you needing to go this route or could taking the Tappan Zee bridge get you where you are going? This is the route I take when heading up to the Northeast.

Thanks Skipbee Hope all is well ... PM me with details of the last year.....thanks for the info.... I think I will transfer to passenger plates I am getting killed up here in the NYS of taxes

Pass plates won't help, DRW width is Commercial class rate. They always lean out and look, I've been told it does not matter what plates I have. I'm fed up, I'd like a SRW/Pass too, maybe this year, a new 3500 SRW.

  • The rate schedule says truck two axles with dual rear wheels
$23.00 per axle with a bit higher rate during rush hours. The easy pass is this rate, cash is more.

    Love to all,

  • I'm waiting to see that post. Back in the late 50s round trip train ticket cost about the same as tolls from MD to NYC. Cheaper to take the train & use hotel.
