Not surprising at all as
any additions to the vehicle will naturally change it's payload capacity. The door side sticker on my own Silverado indicates a maximum payload of 1450 lbs, however once I weigh the truck with a full tank of gas but no people (including myself as driver) or cargo it actually weighs 5600 lbs. Subtract that from it's GVWR and that means it's actual, real world payload capacity is 1400 lbs. The reason? - the truck is equipped with WeatherTech mats, a bed liner, and soft tonneau cover which easily make up for that "lost" 50 lbs.
