No I haven’t. And I could be wrong about that too. What made me think that was this is the same hitch used on 2500 hd and 3500 hd trucks both SWR and Dually…standard box and long box. GM part # 22879974 says it fits 2012 2500 hd and 3500 hd trucks, but mine is a 2013.
clickyAccording to the manual my truck with the CC, standard box, a rear gross axle weight rating of 6,200 lbs, and payload of 3,037 lbs using this hitch has a max TW of 1,500 lbs.
Same truck with a long box, also a rear gross axle rating of 6,200 lbs, payload of 2,932 lbs, using this hitch has a max tongue weight of 2,000 lbs.
So the more I look at it (and compare information on other class V hitches) it doesn’t make sense that my truck, with the same RGAWR, same GVWR (10,000 lbs.) , same max conventional trailering (13,000) and a 100 lbs MORE payload than the long box, has 500 lbs less TW rating.
I'm not saying I would or should use a 1700/17000 lb WDH to get a little more tongue weight, but I don't see why it couldn't be done so long as I don't exceed the GCVWR.
Something else that's confusing about this in the manual is, it says for 2500 and 3500 trucks towing trailers up to 18,000 lbs using a WDH is optional.
When I get closer to actually buying the new TT I'm going to check this out better.
