Tool Box or Tonneau Cover?

I used a 1/2" self drilling "Wafer" head screw in the upper right and left corners of the toolbox into the upper bed at the top inside rail.

The toolbox is designed for a 94-2002 RAM, that is what I had it in first. When I bought my 11 RAM dually I figured I would give it a try. The box fit tight between the "D" rings on the sided of the bed. If you buy the box made for the 10 and newer RAM's you will have a narrower toolbox with room to access the two D rings. I like the way this fits. If I were to buy a new one I would get this same model.

If it is like my Husky, yes, holes through the box through the bed.
Better in my opinion than holes through the bed rails!

Do a search on the Truxcedo Duece.Best one I could find.Flips back up front for tool box and will roll all the way to the cab.

If you want TOP quality this is the way to go. Highway Products they are Made in Oregon. Truckers use their products. They have a whole line of RV tool boxes.

Mine is bed height and 30" front to back. Has a sliding tray at the top and narrow compartments along the front inside for oil bottle and such.

I was lucky I found this one on CL for $300, new they are around $1,000.

I tow a 5er and have a tool box that is below the top of the bed.

Take a look at this one. I had a similar one on one of my past trucks and it worked well. I also fashioned a seal for the front of the toolbox and the front of the bed so it made it pretty water resistant.

On my F350 what I dd was find a hard cover on Craigs list and then cut it down to fit behind the cross box. Gives me everything you are looking for. I have the long be so bought the fiberglass cover for a short bed and ended cutting maybe 12 inches off. Bought chrome plated hinges and mounted them to the cross brace I installed to the front of the box, pins can be removed if you want an open bed. So as it is I have a cross bed box, an angle iron piece to hold the front of the cover and its hinges (also lets me put foam sponge for water intrusion prevention), the top which has all the hydraulic lifts. I then added a after market bed extender to hold whatever I need at the back of the bed so not to have to crawl in to retrieve. The tool box gives easy access to tools, and whatever else I want withot having to get into the bed to retrieve.

Maybe BOTH.

I have a 20" cross-over tool box on my truck. Looking to get tonneau in the near future. I have an 8' bed, so they are easy to find. A bit harder for a 6-6.5 bed (72"-20" is a tiny tonneau), but they are out there.
