total weight carrying in my rv

My wife and I are full time rv'ers. We have been living in the rv for the last year and now plan on hitting the road. One of our first trips will be into the high Sierras. My total wieight allowed is 22,000 lbs. I can't find anywhere where it mentions my unloaded weight. How do I know if I have too much weight, before taking off on my up hill climb?
  • I live in the Sierras. There are some surprisingly steep roads as I'm sure you know. I'd really want to know my weights before I started driving. If there's an accident, the Highway Patrol may want to know also. So get it weighed. Where you live there are plenty of truck stop scales for small fees.

Our drought should help you with driving conditions, but still carry chains and drag chains. The weather here can turn on a dime this time of year.
  • Load up with all your stuff (ready for your trip) and go to the scales and weigh your rig... (CAT Scales, etc). If you are under the 22K you posted, you are good.
