tounge jack

I have a brand new T.T. when it was delivered to my driveway, while unhitching, the electric tounge kept stopping and would have to wait maybe 10-15 seconds to proceed to start again. The person who delivered it said this is normal? I was leveling it yesterday myself and same thing. It just seems to me you should flip a switch , move it up and down as needed and stop it when necessary. So, is this a normal thing that happens or perhaps it is faulty?
the t.t. is 2016 spree 337res

On a KZ Spree you say?? We have a 2014 Spree and the tongue jack failed within days of picking up the TT at the dealer. I can't remember what brand it was but maybe it's the same junk that came on ours... IIRC, it was also overloading and wouldn't go up after a few seconds. Get the dealer to replace it. Could be a bad connection or circuit breaker but I'd say it's the jack.
  • It is normal for the person delivering it so he wouldn't have to deal with it.
  • If the timing is roughly the same (run 10 seconds, stop 5 seconds, run 10 second....etc) I'd suspect the motor is overheating.
  • Some TT makers (Jayco) have moved to "Auto Resetting Fuses" for the tongue Jacks in their 16 models. Is it possible the fuse is tripping and resetting? I found mine by following the wires into the frame and it was just before they entered the trailer. I wasn't having any issues, but since this is my first TT, I wanted to go over wiring before my first trip.
  • Look for a circuit breaker in the 12 volt supply wire. It may not be heavy enough.
  • Normal? NO.
    Are your batteries fully charged?
    Is the jack properly grounded?
  • Hi, well I have an electric tongue jack and have "never" experienced that stop and go issue. Mine is about 2 years old but that really shouldn't matter. You might want to check the jack wiring to the battery. It almost sounds like it is shorting out & or the connection is loose.

Of course it's not normal ... either the tongue jack is faulty, perhaps the switch, or you have a loose connection.
