Tow / Haul button

Hello,
Do I use the tow/haul button always when towing the TV or just in town, or just on Hwy ??
Thanks!
  • Any time my trailer is hitched and sometimes when it is not. I prefer the behavior in T/H mode.

For your 4-spd auto, I recommend tow/haul and lock out overdrive any time your TT is attached.
  • It is on any time there is a trailer hooked to the truck OR I am going down a hill without the trailer. It is about the best feature on the transmission.
  • Mine is on whenever the trailer is hitched.

I have found the best combination for towing is:
    Tow mode button pushed on
    Exhaust brake button pushed on
    Cruise control button pushed on
On rain slicked roads - 4x4 button pushed on
And I live in FLAT Indiana. I can't imagine how wonderful this combination would be if I actually traveled in hilly country!
  • Its on any time I'm pulling. Works great in slowing the truck down long grades and will downshift the truck to slow you down when coming to a stop. I tkink it one of the best features on the D/A.
  • Think of that button as a downshift button. You can shift in and out of high gear when at speed.

Use it when on an on ramp getting onto the highway(to keep it from going into overdrive at the last second when you don't want it too), anytime you are pulling a hill, and maybe even use it downhill if you want to limit your speed or scrub off some speed and not use the brakes to do so.

Also if you are driving into a head wind and if it feels lugged down; use it to get it out of overdrive.
  • Anytime you want.......

Tow/Haul mode extends shift point so you are in each gear longer. Will also downshift to lower gear when decelerating.

I use it all the time when hooked up to trailer,

I use it even when not hooked up to trailer (great in stop/go traffic and when descending long grades)

Go on Push the button..you know you want to :B
