The way I understand it is RAM is the only one to comply with the SAE J2807 across their 1500-3500 pickup truck line.
Regardless of how or by what standard is used by manufacturers, that does not preclude that real time towing capacity should be calculated on the loaded and ready to tow GVW. Realistically, no tow vehicle's towing capacity will be as much as what's written in the owner's manual or in any other manufacturer's publications.
Many who live by that one line towing capacity in the book are exceeding the GVWR.
