These 'ratings' also have warranty baked into the specifications of that 'rating'
Then on that...longevity also part of that...as warranty has a min longevity basis
So if I over load by going over whichever 'rating'...then it breaks
and I claim warranty...the OEM can deny it if they prove over loaded
Not just with a strain gauge anymore, as with their torque control, etc
they can tell very easily...
Tune it...another: they can tell very easily...
There is a 'contract' between the buyer/owner and the OEM. That is
both the sales contract and the specifications (shop manual, glove
box manual, published info, their web site, labels, etc, etc...NOT a
3rd party's charts...like this thread is all about)
Then buried within all of those contractual documentation(s) are
'fine print' that modifies the bolded or larger numbers
Fine print: 'curb'...'base vehicle'...150 lb driver...etc, etc, etc
