Tow Mirrors for 2004 3/4 ton Suburban

Hi All,

Many of you helped me out a whole bunch when I was deciding on trading in my Denali for a 3/4 Suburban and I thank you all for that. So with that said, I'm back coming back for more advice.

Long story short, because of a minor mishap between my wife and my garage door as she was backing it out this morning, my 3/4 Suburban will now be in need of a new side mirror. I'm not particularly fond of the mirrors that are on there, they have a weird black sleeve that's kind of accordion looking and they seem to catch a lot of wind also.

I'm curious if anyone on here has any helpful hints or advice for new towing mirrors (or just mirrors in general) that can be purchased as a replacement for my now broken one, and the other side.

The ones I have now are power mirrors and have the turn signal in the glass. I think I'd like to keep the power aspect, but I do not need heated mirrors or the turn signal thing. Really even power mirrors aren't that needed.

Also, I do have a set of CIPA mirror extensions that I used on my denali that I could probably use on this one too, as long as I buy the right type.

But if they are somewhat affordable, I'd be interested in some sort of towing mirrors that extend in and out so that they only really stick out far when I have them extended for towing.

    That's too bad about the door panel, usually you can just pop off the small triangular panel and the 3 10mm nuts are right there along with the connectors.

    Glad you like the mirrors...I have been very happy with the CIPAs. Mine took some getting used to because the passenger side is a straight mirror, not convex like the factory. I had to add little stick on convex inserts to see anything. Yours I think are much better because the mirror is designed with both straight and convex sections.

    Wait until you tow with these mirrors! What a difference! No muss, no fuss, just pull them out and go! Plus I can see all the way down both sides of the trailer, and change lanes in heavy traffic like it's nothing.

    Yes, definitely a blessing in disguise that DW crunched the factory mirror!

    Quick update. Mirrors were delivered yesterday and I went ahead and installed them last night. Pretty easy as far as the mirrors go. Unbolt the old ones, unhook the wiring harness and bolt in the new one and plug in the new harness. Biggest hassle was that I had to take the door panel off to easily reach the port for the wiring harness.

    But, they are installed and ready to go. MUCH better than my old ones. A little narrower when pushed in, and quite a bit wider when I extend them.

    Hard to believe I'm almost happy the wife ran the old mirror into the garage door. But I went ahead and backed the Suburban out for her this morning! :-)

    I had the eBay power and heated on my k3500. They were fine. Now the sit on a shelf in the garage. Fits 88 to 98 c/k 1500 2500 3500 Subs Yukon Express



    When I purchased mine the kit had the wrong length dual threaded pole. I emailed the Chinese manufacture and the sent the correct pole. The pole threads into the mirror and extends to the inner door side. You put a 12mm nut on and tighten mirror to door frame. Incorrect pole did not poke through door.

    Curious why...anyone know?

    On GMT400's, there is no difference between body parts. The difference
    is below the body in the frame/drive train/suspension/etc

    What changed on the GMT800's and GMT900's ? Don't they still used the
    same bodies between'm ?

    Yes, it looks to me like the ones APT linked do NOT fit the 2500 Sub. The ones I ordered, the link that Burbman provided, do in fact fit the 2500 Sub. So yes, please be careful that what you order works with what you have.

    Doh, I missing that Burbman. It seems Ebay now has mostly the Ford style of LEDs on the outside of the mirrors vs. the behind the glass LEDs of OEM.

    KSU, happy to help. APT, those mirrors that you linked to don't have the turn signal in the glass, OP has that with his OEM mirrors and wanted to keep that function.

    Thanks and wonder if that 1999 fitment also work on my 1996? Both are
    GMT400's

    Some day...knock on wood...I'll need replacements and these look like
    the ticket
